Eleven sisters from different congregations in the Philippines visited SMU on Nov. 25-29 during the Vocation-Mission Animation Week to “raise awareness of God’s call and His call for a good life.”The sisters went from room to room to talk of their vocation, share inspirational stories and vocational calls.

Also, they encouraged Marians in answering God’s calls for life.Tapped sisters were Sr. Ma. Kristina Bergonia, Spc. (Sisters of St. Paul of Chantes), Sr. Cristina (Sisters of our Lady of Consolation), Sr. May Rose Gonzales, dsfs (Daughters of St. Francis de Sales), Sr. Genevieve Go, snds (Sisters of Our Lady of La Salette), Sr. Eli-Ann Diano, SIHM (Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary), Sr. SjahoeMagpantay and Sr. NervaVictorcia (Canossian) and  Sr. Pinky Panganiban, FAS; Sr. Agnes Llave, FAS; Sr. MarcitaDonia; Sr. Winnie Talamayan from the Fransiscan Apostolic Sisters.Contested activities were also conducted which are quiz bee facilitated by Religious Education Department where the School of Education emerged as the winner, followed by the School of Accountancy (SoA) and School of Arts and Sciences on the second and third places, respectively.On the other hand, SoA was proclaimed as the winner for the poster making contest spearheaded by the Social Science Department. Meanwhile, High School department clinched second place and the School of Health Sciences ranked as third place.Other activities on the said celebration are environmental awareness forum themed “Kalikasan, IingatanKo,” film showing, vocation talk shows, variety show led by the Center for Cultural affairs and an exhibit of the religious works and arts at the Patio Alois. When asked about the outcome of the weeklong celebration, Rev. Fr. Pedro Dulnuan, CICM, University chaplain said, “the success of the week was the synergy of all the participants especially the active participation and [the] ‘hand’s on’ approach of the different Congregations toward the attainment of the main purpose.” The culminating activity was also joined by the SMU Grade School pupils where a forum was conducted by the Center for Christian Formation together with the participation of the visiting sisters and Marian Volunteer Campus Ministry.This year’s celebration bore the theme: “You are called to proclaim the Good News to all creation.
